More Camp Escapades

Ahhhh, Middle School. Not the best years of my life, but well worth the effort for some unbelievable memories and amazing friends.  This week's camp was just for those who will be in 6th, 7th, or 8th grade this fall.

With all the festivities this weekend inherent to wedding season, I'll be pretty busy until I head back to camp next week.  High school is up next.  Pray for me!

How do I look?

As we approach the holiday of Easter, so many females are pondering their big question: What do I wear? It shouldn't be the biggest thought we have about the greatest miracle of all time, but for so many of all ages, it really is thought #1 regarding this holiday. I realized at a very young age that I would likely never fit the typical definition of "pretty".  Even in my ballet and dance classes, where beauty is paramount and grace is the goal, I felt less than acceptable.  It usually came back to the factor of my size.  Even at age 3, I was so much bigger than my friends and dance classmates that whenever we tried to play a game of leapfrog in warm-ups, many of the girls would literally get stuck trying to hop over me.  I'm not even kidding.  They tried, they couldn't, and they often ended up face planting into the back of my tucked down head.  It was mortifying.  Eventually, they just let the little girls skip me by walking around.  Not any be...

How I think of Healing

Today, I woke up after a full night's rest, but my body doesn't seem to believe that. My hands and arms are week and shaky, and it takes nearly all the strength in them to move my 2 pound laptop.  Not all days are like this, though, and sometimes I wake up hours before my alarm with so much energy that my to-do list gets to die a swift death that day.  I just never know which kind of day it will be until it shows up.  So, today, with the recent release of Finding Dory back in the states (it's not in Brazil yet), I channeled my inner little blue fish to "just keep swimming".  I made it to work to teach.  I got here 30 minutes after the students arrive, but I got here (and I originally designed it so that I wouldn't normally take students until then anyways, in case I ran into trouble getting all the computer units up and going--which has already happened twice, so it was a good plan).
